Allah Says
And truly you have come unto Us alone, as We created you the first time. You have left behind you all that which We had bestowed on you. We see not with you your intercessors whom you claimed to be your partners. Now you and they have been cut off, and all that you used to claim has vanished from you.Quran (Surah Al-Anaam, Verse 94)
Allah also says:
And they will be set before your Lord in rows, (and Allah will say): “Now indeed, you have come to Us as We created you the first time.’)Quran (Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 48)
Reflections on these Quranic verses
- While some might reject the possibility of Resurrection in the hereafter but their denial will not change the ultimate reality of life in the Hereafter.
- All men and women will return to their Creator, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala).
- On the Day of Resurrection, there won’t be any relationships to depend upon and those who called upon and trusted others (gods, people, etc.) as helpers, friends, and partners (besides Allah) won’t be there for them.
- The wealth and money collected in the life of the world will be left behind.
- Each individual will be alone without any intercessors, friends, and partners.
- It will become clear that no intercessor had a share in molding anyone’s destiny as many had earlier believed. Therefore, those who had trusted others besides Allah the Only Protector will be left in a lurch.
- Man should discard the delusion that the wealth of this world is as important as he thinks it is. Wealth can’t provide the protection that Allah does for one.
- Standing alone before Allah, totally dependent on His Mercy, man will be assisted by nothing except his good deeds.
It is recorded in the Sahih that Allah’s Messenger said,
‘The Son of Adam says, `My money, my money!’ But, what part of your money do you have, other than what you eat of it and is thus spent, what you wear and tear and what you gave in charity and thus remains (in the record of good deeds.) Other than that, you will depart and leave it to the people.’)
Al-Hasan Al-Basri said,
“On the Day of Resurrection, the Son of Adam will be brought, as if he were a golden chariot and Allah, the Most Honored, will ask, `Where is that which you collected?’ He will reply, `O Lord! I collected it and left it as intact as ever.’ Allah will say to him, `O Son of Adam! Where is that which you sent forth for yourself (of righteous, good deeds),’ and he will realize that he did not send forth anything for himself.”
Narrated ‘Abdullâh: The Prophet (S) said,
“Who among you considers the wealth of his heirs dearer to him than his own wealth?” They replied, “O Allâh’s Messenger! There is none among us but loves his own wealth more.” The Prophet (S) said, “So his wealth is whatever he spends (in Allâh’s Cause), during his life (on good deeds) while the wealth of his heirs is whatever he leaves after his death.” (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.8, Hadîth No.449)
